Wondering about the house plans? Here they are!

The upstairs framing is almost complete. My bedroom, closet, bathroom, WC and shower are all framed it, including the entry way to my bedroom and the double doors to the deck. The spare bedroom is done too, along with its bathroom. The kitchen walls are mostly up. Ken & the guys say they're hoping to have the trusses delivered at the end of next week.

Next steps: finish the upstairs walls (except the 20' ones). The great room wall is up at 10 feet. The roof over the bedroom ties in there, so they'll lay the framing for the roof and then complete the last 10 feet of the wall. In the dining room and kitchen, the 14' walls are almost done (just a short wall from the kitchen) and then the headers need to go in. Then the roof framing can tie in there. The idea is to put the roof framing in place first so that they don't run into any cross pieces in the wall. The the rest of the wall can go up, the trusses can go on, and we'll have roof cover!

The stairs from the upper floor to the downstairs will be in this weekend. Ken said if I come over on Sunday I'll be able to walk down the stairs. The front wall of the turret is still missing, and the deck has to be put on. The I-beams for that were laid yesterday.

Euler went with me today and walked all over the upstairs. He was scared to go down the stairs in the garage at first, but then he started exploring and ignored me while he got pets from all the guys.

I'll go over Sunday and take more pictures.

By my calculations, we're about halfway done $$$-wise and almost halfway in time. The work all started February 1 and we're supposed to be able to move in next February. 5-1/5 months in, and it looks like a house for the first time! What a great birthday present!!!

I submitted the pool plans to the City last Friday. It should take another couple of weeks before the permit is ready and then that can start too.
